We always liked the sound of jazz films. The orchestral approach to jazz harmony has a romantic character, which is irresistible and easily stood the test of time. We simply cannot get enough wide passages for strings, harmonious sound of a trumpet, a large saxophone orchestra, flugelhorn and trombones with French horns. For many years, we felt a desire to create a product that embraced this style of music, and now we have it.
Noir is our first release and, we hope, will become the new line in the Sonokinetic line. As always, we have added some changes to our existing engine. For those familiar with our other orchestral libraries, Noir is different! Due to the nature of the music content, we decided to deviate from our usual four high-mid-low presets and go further in the spirit of the atonal Espressivo with 12 preset keys, each containing one performance. This makes it easy to combine different presets and experiment with interweaving melodies and harmonies, which provides a more horizontal process of creating compositions. We think a lot about how to translate this concept into a useful interface, and we hope you enjoy what we come up with and encourage this new direction.
At Noir, we put all three recorded orchestral sections into one Section tool, which makes combining different groups of instruments very easy, and of course we have our robust randomization button that will give you twelve fresh phrases each time you press.
