While de-essers and dynamic equalizers can be very useful, they are rarely enough to effectively suppress hissing sounds in vocal recordings.
Producers and sound engineers often spend countless hours manually processing these problematic sounds. While this is often unavoidable, it’s time-consuming and distracts from what’s truly important.
splitS is designed to give you back your time!
splitS isn’t a de-esser, but a simple mixer that allows you to balance sibilants and instantly separate a vocal track into sibilants and non-sibilants. The signal remains completely unchanged unless the volume is changed, since the separation between sibilants and non-sibilants occurs at the full-range signal.
No compression, no equalizer, no crossover.
Since version 1.1, the S-Range feature can detect the peak level of each S event, allowing you to set a maximum volume or exclude implicit events from the S channel.
The splitS system was developed in close collaboration with Swiss sound engineer Thomas “Mr. T” Gloor.
An advanced hiss detection system using spectral brightness, level, and tone.
It splits the signal into two full-range components: hiss and non-hiss, allowing for precise editing directly on the audio track.
100% signal integrity is maintained with no gain changes.
A scrolling screen displays the waveform, showing signal separation and level changes in real time.
New feature: S-Band allows you to set maximum and minimum levels for S-events.
A SoundFlow script package is available in the SoundFlow Store for automating the splitS feature in Pro Tools on macOS.
Supported plug-in formats: AudioUnits/AAX/VST3 for macOS and Windows 64-bit.
Support for multichannel output of NOS/S signals in Pro Tools, Reaper, Live, and Bitwig.
Typical latency (varies by parameter): ~30 ms.
