This is truly a stunning piece of equipment. Both channels are perfectly tuned for their respective purposes: Channel 1 is responsible for clean, distortion-edge, and crunch sounds, and also offers GREAT pedal capabilities. Channel 2 continues the work of Channel 1.
Richer, tighter crunch tones, plus great overdrive and lead tones with the Drive circuit engaged.
The EQ is always very responsive, and you can switch from a bright and punchy sound to a more balanced one, as well as the lovely, darker, warmer Andy Timmons-style tones that are a big part of his sound.
The amp was recorded with both EL34 tubes (to achieve the authentic Timmons sound) and standard 6L6 tubes.
A great all-round amp with elements of modern Americana/Fender styling but with a more polished and powerful tone that can rival any Dumble on the Lead channel at any time of day, and with exceptional pedal capabilities.
The set includes 36 complete recordings of the amplifier’s sound through a Matchless 2×12 cabinet with Celestion Vintage V30 speakers. Microphones used were Royer R121 (2 pcs.), Beyerdynamic M160, and Neumann U87. A full list of included recordings is available in the product photos section.
