OVC-128 is an oversampling soft / hard clipping / clipping effect. The usual use of this plugin is a strict limitation before the last peak limiter. This is an effective approach in modern electronic music when the volume is raised using a clipper, while minor excessive peaks are absorbed by the last peak limiter, which itself does not apply any additional gain.
Clipping tracks using OVC-128 is almost identical to clipping using high-quality external analog equipment. With a sampling frequency of 44.1 kHz, the sampling frequency of the OVC-128 internal audio signal is a whopping 5.6 MHz!
The ideal combination for the production of modern electronic music is the OVC-128, followed by the mastering limiter Voxengo Elephant in EL-C mode. This combination creates both energy and smoothness.
Please note that OVC-128 is an effects plugin with relatively high processor requirements, for comfortable use it requires a higher level processor. Performing clipping with increased 128X oversampling on one stereo track is computationally similar to performing simple clipping for 1000 tracks.
