Maverick engineer and designer Tom Oberheim is one of the most prolific figures in the history of fusion. The fruits of his labor can be heard on hundreds of albums, found in hundreds of innovative instruments, and used every day in instruments considered standard, such as preset memories and MIDI.

He is one of the most influential designers, and his designs are among the rare ones that have stood the test of time: some of these creations are still in production 40 years later, without having undergone major modifications. The sound of his instruments is unique, their character is often rightly described as “rich” and “massive”.

Creating a set of tools that could do justice to this incredible legacy was one of our biggest challenges. We started by listing our favorite synths, and after researching them (which was sometimes difficult!) we spent hundreds of hours learning about their unique sonic qualities and then creating new sounds. The result of all this work is 1,468 presets, built from 49,252 sound samples recorded on the original machines. You get the benefits of the best of these machines combined with state-of-the-art software.

All of the sounds included in OB Legacy can be edited to your liking, and they’re accompanied by interfaces inspired by the original instruments, so you’ll feel like you have real synths at your fingertips as you play. The included presets cover a wide range of styles, from vintage classics to modern designs. Quickly explore different categories, listen to presets, edit them, stack them; you can even completely transform tones to suit your creativity, enjoying the authentic warmth, power and character of real analog circuits.
