Ancient Greek Winds is a collection of nine carefully selected traditional Greek woodwind instruments reflecting the essence of the classical Hellenistic period. This group of restored artifacts includes single- and double-reed aulos flutes from bass to viola, as well as shell horns, a brass salpinx horn, a pan flute, and a plagiaul.
Each instrument is fully playable, with sustains, staccato, true legato, dynamic expressions and effects tailored to its specific characteristics. Ancient Greek Brass is the perfect melodic addition to our Ancient Greek Strings and Ancient Greek Percussion libraries.
Each instrument was handcrafted using precise techniques, building materials and tools by the Athens-based historical research group Lyr?vlos, led by Panagiotis Stephos. Crafted from wood, reeds, shells and bronze, these musical treasures faithfully explore a distant musical past and would have been right at home in the hands of Bronze Age musicians over 2,500 years ago.
Each instrument was recorded in detail by producer John Valasis, with looping variations and multiple dynamics and voices. You’ll love our flexible GUI features and wide selection of chromatic articulations and special effects.
The interface provides full performance control, including true legato response control, simulated portamento bend, arpeggiator, flexible step filter and LFO systems, and a modular DSP FX rack to shape your sound the way you want.
We’ve also created 20 unique soundscapes directly from raw recordings of acoustic sources to give you added texture and even more creativity. Ancient Greek Winds features 3,517 24-bit, 48kHz stereo samples and weighs in at just over 4GB.
