Soniccouture has announced the second version of Skiddaw Stones, a library for Kontakt, which features sounds from 61 ancient cumbria cliffs.
The latest version of the classic Soniccouture tool offers detailed sampling, effects, and the inspirational KSP Generative sequencer. A lithophone dating from the year 1840 consists of 61 tuned and properly formed rocks made of rare stone found in Cumbria, England. Hornfels is said to have an excellent and unique tone.
For recording, two different sets of hammers were used, then the articulations of a wooden hammer scraping the surface of the stone were recorded. The result is truly mesmerizing. The library carries a truly ancient sound. You will not find analogues of this tool.
