Sounds Nickelharp, familiar and at the same time different from each other, pass a thin line. Nyckelharpa translates as “key violin” in Swedish.
The pitch of the notes is changed by pressing the wooden key, which annoys the string. There are also 12 sensual strings added in the mid 1700s, possibly inspired by the viola of love. They serve to add resonance, volume and overall sound to the sound.
Two different harps are presented in this product: standard instruments for viola and octavharp, cello model.

Nyckelharpas features
• Standard pitched nyckelharpa made by Soren Ahker: standard Swedish 3-row tuned (low to high) CGC A.
• Cello pitched nyckelharpa (oktavharpa) made by Olle Plahn with the key box by Annette Osann. Tuned an octave lower than the normal nyckelharpa. This particular instrument has all four melody strings keyed and is tuned exactly like a cello – CGD A.
