Klevgrand Skaka: Virtual shaker with advanced sequencer. Eight percussion sounds, polyrhythmic support and an effects section for creating parts of any complexity.
Swedish developers Klevgrand have presented a new virtual instrument – the Klevgrand Skaka shaker. The plug-in with a purely Ikean name promises to give the compositions additional quality, and also has a number of non-standard functions.

The Klevgrand Skaka virtual shaker is based on samples from a real percussion instrument. The plugin offers 12 slots for creating your own percussion section and eight types of shakers. The user’s choice is offered:

Egg – an egg-shaped shaker;
Shaker – a regular shaker;
Tambourine – tambourine
Caxixi – porridge;
Single Shot – single shaker sound;
Ghungroos – gungru;
Calabash – calabash;
Seeds – Peruvian rattles.

The built-in pattern generator allows you to create any rhythm pattern. The parameters of the dynamics of sound extraction, tempo, pitch and humanization are available for adjustment. In addition to this, the instrument offers an effects section, consisting of a reverb (with room emulation) and a high-pass filter to soften the excessively high and harsh shaker sound.

The built-in Skaka sequencer gives you access to finer, more precise shaker performance settings. The sequencer allows you to adjust the swing effect and random sound extraction, more accurately determine the sound changes when you move your hand with the shaker towards you and away from you. A number of parameters are intended for playing triplets, determining the micro-timing of the performance. The sequencer is equipped with a database of 200 patterns and supports both simple and complex polyrhythms, the developers note.
