New interface, new effects, new functions. IK Multimedia has officially unveiled a new version of the IK Multimedia AmpliTube 5 guitar emulator. The novelty has received an updated interface with support for Retina displays, a large number of new hardware and the ability to work with impulses

The new IK Multimedia AmpliTube 5 comes out five years after the previous version of the plugin was released. According to the manufacturer, the fifth version offers a completely redrawn interface with support for scaling and Retina displays, an improved user experience and an impressive selection of guitar equipment and effects.

The emulator offers 129 new virtual devices. The total amount of equipment available in AmpliTube 5 MAX exceeds 400 models. In addition to this, the plugin has acquired a section for working with impulses. At the heart of the impulse engine is IK Multimedia Volumetric Impulse Response (VIR) technology, which improves signal processing so that impulses sound more natural and authentic.

To develop VIR impulses, the plug-in analyzed and recorded over 600 impulses per speaker available in AmpliTube. Thanks to this, the guitar emulator offers about 143,000 pulses and the ability to change the position of the microphone in three dimensions in virtual space. In addition to the sink impulse, the engine allows you to import custom IR files.

Another notable innovation is the fully customizable signal path. Users will be able to create circuits of any complexity, experiment with effects through serial and parallel processing. New features allow to implement an unusual chain of processed-original-processed signal, the developers note.

The effect chain supports up to 57 effects. Users can freely combine cabinets, amps, stompboxes, and rack effects. A number of effects migrated to the guitar emulator from the T-RackS studio processor kit.
The plugin also has a DAW with support for recording up to 8 channels simultaneously.

Together with the DAW, the developers have completely redesigned the built-in mixer, making it much more convenient. According to the creators, now the guitar can be processed exclusively in AmpliTube – there is no need to switch to the main DAW window.
The AmpliTube Custom Shop section has also been redesigned.

The developers have not disclosed details yet, but note that the plugin is integrated with the AX I / O and AX I / O Solo audio interfaces.
