Cinematic Studio Woodwinds is superbly versatile a library that will add a new and important dimension to your musical palette. Thanks to the great sound and stunning realism of these instruments, you will find that you will want to use wind instruments in your music in a new and exciting way. Featuring the same intuitive and efficient graphical interface as strings and brass instruments, CSW perfectly complements the rest of the Cinematic Studio series.

The Cinematic Studio Series libraries have earned a prominent place among many composers for consistency, sound quality, ease of use, and some of the best legatos on the planet. CSW features nine solo instruments and four two-player sections (sometimes referred to as “a2”). Despite one or two omissions, such as the bass flute and the Eb clarinet, all the woodwinds you’d expect to find in any self-respecting orchestra are present.

Requires Native Instruments Kontakt Player 5.8.1 or higher sampler to work Due to the complexity of the update itself, we had to repackage the library, which unfortunately means you have to re-download the entire library again.

UPDATE:

Cinematic Studio Woodwinds v1.3 We are pleased to present the first update to Cinematic Studio Woodwinds – CSW v1.3. This is a significant update that not only fixes several issues that were present in the first release, but also includes some great new features and improvements in the library.

WHAT’S IN IT

First, both Solo Flute and Solo Alto Flute articulations now work correctly on all microphones. In addition, we have added a powerful new feature – the “Low Latency” legato mode. With all the realism and no latency, this mode can dramatically reduce sequencing and editing times, making it easy to create more expressive, fluid and playful melodies.

However, the usual deferred legato still exists, and it has also been improved to make it more realistic and easier to create flowing, human phrases than ever before. We’ve renamed this legato mode to Expressive, which you will see in the main GUI. Both of these modes can be selected using the velocity sensitive rocker switch function, which defaults to C0. Press it at a speed of 0-64 for low latency, or 65-127 for expressive.

We’ve also improved the tuning of a number of instruments, especially the upper register of the solo flute. This makes the sound of doubling with other instruments like the oboe thicker and polished in every way. Additional customizations will be included in future updates on an ongoing basis. Other improvements have been made to x-fading between non-vibrato and non-vibrato samples, as well as dynamic x-fading – especially on Marcato; better correspondence of the volume of the release samples to the sustains; and we’ve also added a subtle accent to the isolated sustain notes and legato repetitions played above 64.

HOW DO YOU GET THIS?

Due to the complexity of the update itself, we had to “repackage” the library, which unfortunately means that you will have to re-download the entire library again. Before downloading, you need to completely delete the current Cinematic Studio Woodwinds folder and then replace it with a new one in the same location. If you load it in the same location, it means that you can continue to use the library without problems. If you are in the middle of a project right now, we do NOT recommend updating it immediately. The easiest option is to wait for all existing projects containing CSW to complete. This is because the Kontakt patches are saved in the DAW project file – this means that any projects saved before the update will contain the old patches. Therefore, after the update, if you want to continue working on any projects,
