Camel is a set of 4 plugins that combines the sounds of two iconic British pro-audio brands that have earned a reputation as industry leaders through their technological innovation and achievements.
The Camel EQ Model A is based on a vintage British EQ/pre module with balanced mic/line inputs featuring Lundahl balanced transformers, adjustable high/low pass filters, and a 4-band parametric EQ. The high and low pass filters can be switched to peak mode and vice versa. Likewise, the 2 middle bands (low and high) have switchable Q from narrow to wide, and vice versa.
The Camel EQ Model B is based on a rare Class A discrete component console introduced in 1973 by one of the UK’s most famous record labels, based in London’s Soho, which soon after launched as a pro-audio production company. It was this console that spent its early life in London and played a vital role in the recording of such legendary albums as Queen’s A Night at the Opera and David Bowie’s Diamond Dogs.
Thanks to the invaluable help of producer and sound engineer Antonio Aki Cindamo (co-founder of Auditoria Records in Italy), we managed to get our hands on this beauty. We thoroughly auditioned the 16 line and 16 mic preamps, the console’s stereo output preamp (which is included in the plug-in’s custom preamp module), and the entire EQ module, including its high-pass filter.
