New interface, new effects, new features. IK Multimedia has officially introduced a new version of the IK Multimedia AmpliTube 5 guitar emulator. The new product has received an updated interface with support for Retina displays, a large number of new equipment and the ability to work with impulses.
The new IK Multimedia AmpliTube 5 comes out five years after the release of the previous version of the plugin. According to the manufacturer, the fifth version offers a completely redesigned interface with support for scaling and Retina displays, an improved user experience and an impressive selection of guitar equipment and effects.
The emulator offers 129 new virtual devices. The total number of available equipment in AmpliTube 5 MAX exceeds 400 models. In addition, the plugin has acquired a section for working with impulses. The impulse engine is based on IK Multimedia Volumetric Impulse Response (VIR) technology, which improves signal processing, making impulses sound more natural and authentic.
To develop VIR impulses, the creators of the plugin analyzed and recorded more than 600 impulses for each speaker available in AmpliTube. Thanks to this, the guitar emulator offers about 143,000 impulses and the ability to change the position of the microphone in three-dimensional space. In addition to stock impulses, the engine allows importing custom IR files.
Another notable innovation is a fully customizable signal chain. Users will be able to create schemes of any complexity, experiment with effects through serial and parallel processing. The new features allow implementing an unusual chain of processed-original-processed signal, the developers note.
The effects chain supports up to 57 effects. Users can freely combine cabinets, amplifiers, stompboxes and rack effects. A number of effects have migrated to the guitar emulator from the T-RackS studio processor kit.
The plugin also has a DAW with support for recording up to 8 channels simultaneously. Together with the DAW, the developers have completely redesigned the built-in mixer, making it much more convenient. According to the creators, now you can process the guitar exclusively in AmpliTube – there is no need to switch to the main DAW window.
The AmpliTube Custom Shop section has also been redesigned. The developers are not yet disclosing details, but they note that the plugin is integrated with the AXE I/O and AXE I/O Solo audio interfaces.
