Parker Oboe is a library of true legato oboe performed by Dr. Andrew Parker, Associate Professor of Oboe at the University of Texas. Recorded at Orb Studios in Austin, Texas, our goal was to create a responsive, flexible instrument that could handle a variety of exciting orchestral contexts without switching keys.
The Workhorse patch is versatile, played with a confident mezzo forte dynamic. Fat Lead is full-throttle oboe playing – great when you want bite, attitude and soaring melodies. Emotional offers a lyrical performance in mezzo piano, while Delicate showcases a very soft, airy side to the instrument.
We also recorded breaths followed by pre-attack air/reed noises – this really helps to convey the performance when used before or in between phrases.
With the Workhorse and Fat Lead patches, velocities 1-30 provide a softer attack, 31-114 triggers a more active attack (with circular repeats) and 115-127 provides immediate vibrato after the attack.
In Emotional and Delicate, playing legato at velocities 1-89 enables natural, progressive vibrato performance, while 90-127 produces faster vibrato entry, allowing you to refine your vibrato phrasing on the fly.
The Breaths patch is a collection of breaths pulled from the entire session. Integrating breaths before or between phrases can enhance your composition, imbuing it with a sense of presence and authenticity.
