Cassette Plucks.01 is a mixture of physical modeling, subtractive synthesis and sampling. It contains two different oriental-vibrated plucked instruments, both designed from scratch.
Because of all the care that went into creating each layer and the magical touch of old cassette recorders, Cassette Plucks.01 is another collection of lofi and delicious sounds.
Both instruments were recorded over a 5 octave range, with 4 dynamic layers, using 2 different cassette decks. There are 979 samples in total – 244 samples per deck, plus 2 noise samples from each deck (1.32 GB of uncompressed 24-bit WAV files).
Each note has been carefully denoised with a high quality algorithm to avoid noise aliasing when more than one note is played (there is still some noise left in the samples to avoid denoising artifacts). Noise can still be added using the noise control – this is much more flexible and allows you to independently adjust the volume of the noise, as well as apply options such as filtering. It also creates a more realistic sound, so when a five-voice chord is played, only one noise sample will be heard instead of five stacked on top of each other.
