Co-created with David Bendet, +10db is a channel strip plug-in carefully modeled after David’s personal hardware compressor that you’ve heard on some of the biggest hit albums. If you don’t mind listening to music after Beethoven, you’ve probably heard this device in action. Even better, this is the first time that this hardware compressor is available in a plugin format. +10db is a first of its kind channel strip plug-in modeled after David Bendet’s personal compressor.

We didn’t just use a hardware block for inspiration, we dug deep and made sure it sounded exactly like the original. If you’ve ever listened to Breaking Benjamin or Paramore or any of the other countless albums mixed by David Bendet, one of the first things you’ll notice is how damn powerful the drums sound. This unit is a vital part of his drum mixing chain, and now it can be part of yours.

Pro Reviews:

“Like DB, this thing is pure rock ‘n’ roll! We love the way it sounds on drums.”

  • Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, Kiss)
“+10db recreates a piece of equipment that may not be as ubiquitous as other known counterparts, however the original’s sonic signature made it a well-preserved (still) secret weapon for me and from countless other engineers. From the beautiful rumble of the compressor/limiter to the oft-forgotten but unique-sounding EQ section, this plug-in recreates the individuality of the equipment with brilliance.”
-Neil Avron (Linkin Park, Sara Bareilles, Switchfoot).
“It’s just what I was hoping for. Big, open, punchy and versatile. Very happy to have it in my arsenal. Thank you DB!
-Ted Jensen, Sterling Sound Mastering (Billy Joel, Green Day, Talking Heads, Norah Jones, Mastodon).

Why did we model this device?

Everyone seems to model hardware these days, but we wanted to do something a little different. We didn’t want to simulate hardware that had been made a million times. We wanted to do something that had never been done before but was an icon in the recording industry and the only way to do it was to team up with producer/mixer David Bendet. He just had a few of these albums in his rack, and he sent us one of them for review.
If you haven’t stopped listening to music since “Johnny B Goode”, then you’ve probably heard this equipment many times. Think Led Zeppelin drums.
Not only would you have to pay over $2,000 to get the same compressor in hardware, you would also have to deal with all the other disadvantages of analog hardware. For a very fraction of the price, you can get the same sound in a much more convenient software format. There really are no downsides (unless you live in Alaska and need a room heater).

A Few Extra Features:

Because we weren’t limited to analog hardware, we took the liberty of adding a couple of features that make it even more powerful than the original hardware. For example, we’ve added a “Dry Passthrough” control that makes parallel compression very easy, without the need to set up additional busses.

3 plugins in 1:

By purchasing the +10db package, you actually get three separate plugins: +10db Compressor, +10db Equaliser and +10db Channel Strip.

All Boz plugins share a common username.
If you register under a different name, the other product will be deregistered.
